24
24.
What an interesting number. Twenty four, means so many things. 24 hours in a day, two dozen of something, 24, a great TV show which my family watched religiously each night it came on. This 24 is of a different nature.
24 flights. Yep that's right 24 different times I have been on an airplane in the past 9 months. From the girl who did not fly by herself till senior year in college to 24 flights in the 9 months that is a huge step.
So this past weekend when I realized that all my clothes were washed from my past flight and they did not have to be immediately packed into another bag there was a sigh of relief. I love to travel and what travel means. To see the world, to embrace new cultures and to breathe it all in that God created both near and far. This is wonderful.
So too is my personal bed. The bed I have now slept in more than 6 consecutive days. What a concept. So today this morning as I embrace the 24 hours that this day has given me. There are some moments in the 24 hours that I am not looking forward to or dreading even but we all have those moments. Get through them, press on, push past and then embrace the next light that you are given.
Last night for the first time in months I picked up a book to read for pleasure. Though it was one given to me while teaching, the fact I was reading it and it was not due today showed something of importance.
I thank God for his faithfulness through 24 flights. That each flight he had a purpose, each person I sat beside had a story that He (whether they knew it or not) was working through. However, I also thank God for the 24 hours. The time that he gives me to embrace my dirty home and make me want to wash my windows. To go to the grocery store and get supplies for more than just two meals and to see my life groups for more than two weeks in a row. Now I know again soon this will change. I will be back on more flights as the summer progresses. That is not a bad thing, however I choose to take these 24 hours each day to do the most I can, the best way I can, for Him.
Praying today we embrace whatever our twenty four looks like.
