Advent Day 8
Ephesians 2:22
And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
2 Corinthians 6:16
What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people."
“In Him”, in Christ. Wow two words that provide unlimited potential, hope and restoration. We are God’s people. Have you ever forgotten something and left it somewhere? I leave things around all the time. I had this amazing jacket that I loved and it had my initials on it. I was helping with a Church yard sale one time got hot, laid it down and at the end of the day I could not find it anywhere. Even though it had my initials on it, it did not have the ability to find me I had to find it. Well sadly it was never found. Assuming that it was sold to someone at the yard sale I moved on. Something remained with me though. I realized that without my jacket I was ok but with my jacket life was better, warmer, safer.
This is a stretch, but many times we think of God as just a jacket we put him on when we need him but sometimes we take Him off and for a while forget where we put Him. We don’t study, we don’t read scripture, we don’t surround ourselves with the right network and for times we lose our jackets, our faith and our warmth and hope. The amazing thing is that God is not a jacket that we can misplaced or lose. God is like Olaf’s cloud of snow that follows him around. No matter where we are God is there. No matter our storms in life, or our good or bad times. God is there. We may forget that he is so close to us dark is dark and we often lose our sight but it does not change God’s proximity to us. We are God’s people and He is our God and we should find the ultimate comfort in knowing that He will never leave us.
