Roots

So the renovation is going crazy at my house. With that being said, today I resorted to shoveling dirt and digging up bushes while work was being done under my house. As I began pulling up roots that had to be removed, I was caught noticing the intricate web the roots had formed in the dirt. This web annoyed me, as I tried to untangle it and pull the roots away from the soil and the wall. However, I caught myself, reflecting on these roots and their similarity with scripture.

If we are to be rooted in Christ with our foundation in Him then we too need to have an intricate web of roots. If you have ever seen and olive free, to me their branches look how roots,do under the surface. They are not straight, roots bend and mold themselves to the situations that they encounter, be it rock, wall or other roots. These roots are overlapping each other not carrying how close proximity they have with other roots only that they are able to get the proper nutrients from the plant itself.

Which made me think if we are to be rooted in Christ he does not expect a perfect straight person. He knows that we will be twisted and mangled from life's circumstances, socioeconomic backgrounds and current life status. He know that we are going to be in close proximity to things that can and will impede our growth. But he loves that about us. He loves when we are connected to him, we create an even bigger root system because when we grow and we change we impact the lives and the roots around us.

It is important as life happens and situations go our way it does matter the turns that we have to make but what matters is that we care more about being cut off from our source of life then we do our appearence.

God is infinitely wise and immeasurably gracious.

All of this while digging up riots. It is amazing to see how even in the mundane God is always there waiting, willing and yearning to share a moment with you.
