Assertiveness
Word of the year:
This year
will be the second time I have chosen a word exemplify my life. This 2017 year the word that I decided to choose is:
“assertiveness”
which means to
having or showing a personality that is both confident and forceful. I am guilty to admit I have been on the other
side of this word which is lazy or lacking at times in years past. Anything can
change if it is pressing enough to find the change, in living out this word for
the year I have adopted a common saying that everyone recites but am using and
working so far “new year new possibilities.”
One easy way I
want to assert myself by sitting down an hour or two at night and actively
looking to what can be accomplished for the next day along with planning it out.
Before the next day starts setting my alarm is going to become more of a thing
so I can forcefully make better choices and make myself a stronger person out
of the challenge. Life is anything you
want to make it to be and I want to be confident in all areas of my life with
my fiancé, my family and new family, career, jobs, and to push to new things to
try. I want to be at yellow instead of the red light so when I see something I
can push the gas pedal down so I can be driving whether it for be my goals,
money, habits, intentions…..etc with focus and sincerity. The part of
personality that helps is I’m mostly a pretty positive and upbeat person.
The most
important way I want to be assertive is to continue to establish my faith in
God. Ways I am doing that are daily devotionals in the morning and quiet time
with prayer. He has been there when I had to assert myself to overcome
obstacles in my way and had to go around and I know through my situations in
the past instilling confidence without fear.
He will always be with me and promises he will never leave our side even
when we are at our worst days and facing our worst fears. In this God with
instill a more confident and stronger.
God is good all the time
and
all the time God is good
Praise be to
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the
God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can
comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2
Corinthians 1:3-4
