Advent Day 15
Deuteronomy 18:15-19 ~ 15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. 16 For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.” 17 The Lord said to me: “What they say is good. 18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him. 19 I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.
There are many times when I do not believe things that people say. Either I have other information that points to a different conclusion or I want to form my own conclusion based on my own research. I love to look things up and find out new information and new answers. There are certain people in my life that I take what they say with much weight. If they tell me that something is not good for me, I instantly believe them and completely forget about it and move on to something else. The amazing thing is that God is for us and Jesus is for us and sometimes I do not put weight on what he says and try and do my own research and it only gets me in trouble. I try and do something different then what God is clearly calling me to and that makes everything more complicated. Listen to what God is calling you to do and test it against scripture. He will not call you to something that is against his nature.
One of the biggest things that we have to do is listen and it is SOOOO hard to make sure this happens. Listen when the world is pulling you 12 different directions. Listen when you feel down and you don't feel like you can take another step. Listen when you are on the top of the mountain but realize that it is a lonely place to be. Listen to the world around you and hear its aches and groans. Then listen to God and hear his peace, his love and his joy talking to his son and daughter. Listen to him.
