Advent Day 9
Psalm 126.2 ~ Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."
Ecclesiastes 3:4~ A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.
When do we stop and sing praises? Have you ever cried tears of joy? There are two times that I vividly remember crying tears of joy. I bet I have other times with friends laughing till I cry etc., but there are two instances that I vividly remember crying tears of joy. One honestly was tears of relief more than joy, but there is so much joy in relief as well. One was because I got a speeding ticket while on my way to graduate school and I had never gotten a ticket before. It was speed trap where it dropped fast and I honestly didn’t see the trap. I had only driven the area twice and didn’t know where things were. Caught in the trap I got a large ticket, lawyer-ed up and all. I was freaking out. I was supposed to start a new job the next week and if I didn’t have the license or was in court it would jeopardize my job. The lawyer called on my court dates (he stood in for me because I was teaching that day and it was a state away) and told me it had been dropped. TEARS FLOODED of joy. The other time was when Andrew proposed (not flooding tears of joy but deep love). There was this deep understanding of all the missed dates, the issues of boys or lack thereof etc, to now having Andrew which was a deeper love then I could express.
It is in these times we thank God for his faithfulness through all the times of uncertainty which led us to these places. Our joy and laughter is infectious. When you can’t finish a joke because you are laughing to hard and then other people start laughing with you. When I truly laugh deeply I laugh silently. There are times where I don’t even breathe because something is so funny I can’t stop laughing then all of the sudden I gasp for air and continue the process. These are good for the soul. They say laughter is the best medicine and I believe that with a great network of people and laughter life can truthfully be so much better. There is a season for everything. We can find joy even in the mourning. The Lord does great things for all of us all the time. When we take time to “en-JOY” and be with others who inspire, motivate, and reach dreams we see the great things He continuously does in and through our lives.
