Bananas
Today starts the beginning of GO Bananas . this is a series that we are doing at our church to kick off the summer and feed children in our area who may not get food over the summer. It is a great program and a huge responibility.
I have been thinking and praying over this program since I knew of its return in January. Praying for the volunteers the students the families that would not only be impacted by the food but by the faith that Christ gives us on a daily basis.
I have also been inundated with images of bananas in my head. Instead of sugar plums the thoughts of counting bananas reoccurs over and over. Then I got to thinking.
We all within our faith are at different stages of the banana. GO with me here. Some are not ripe, not ready to listen or here what God is doing in their life. Some are ready presteen on the outside but when you peel back the skin there are some underlying spots or issues that need to be dealt with. Some are spotted on the outside having a history pre Christ that might has left them scared or scarred. Some are really mushy and over ripe, maybe over churched or previously burned by the church.
Each of these types of bananas peerform different functions and can make wonderful different creations. As I ate my banana bread this morning. I am thankful that God didn't give up on me when I may have been over churched or churched out. I am thankful for his grace despite my outside or inside appearance and I am thankful that only he knows the plan for our future and destiny.
May you go a little bananas today and realize we are all bananas if we really think about.
:)
