Advent Day 21
Isaiah 9:2-7 ~ The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
If you have children or friends with children or ever been around children you know their energy level can be from one extreme to another in 2.5 seconds. They can go from the most crazy jumping off the walls child to sleeping, or from happy to meltdown and most of the time it is not in or of your control. The thought of endless peace is one that I cannot imagine but I and the world longs. We have witnessed more tragedy as a church building again was attacked in a state of violence. Everyone is clamoring of fault and blame but what are we doing about it to change the situation. How is love stronger than hate if we fail to show it to others? I love the beauty described in this verse. Wonderful counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. This is so eloquent.
The thought of a perfect counselor that always gives, wonderful unbiased responses is unheard. The view of a God who is mighty and stronger than all of our problems. Everlasting father is beauty to the ears of those that are fatherless or have a father who is distant. PRINCE OF PEACE the one who can calm the hearts and minds of those hurting and aching for something other than this world. Peace that is so unrecognizable that we can’t comprehend this peace. This is joy thinking we have a creator, a father, and a friend who is not one of these things but all of these things.
What area are you struggling to allow Him to lead?
