Advent Day 3
Psalm 145:4 ~ One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.
Don’t forget to share your story. I love the beginning of the story of Christ. The full story is amazing but the beginning is beautiful. “In those days… these three words that start Luke’s account of the birth of Christ make me smile. In those days… referring back, reflecting on, pondering. It is not just a moment of time but it’s a statement - a statement that reflects a period of time and all the nuances that comes with it. It reflects an impending story. Luke told the best story so beautifully in professing what was coming of Christ. The days he mentioned were different it is “in those days” that it was before Christ. “In those days” people, thought acted, dreamed differently. After Christ, everything changed.
We have family who loves sharing stories. Their stories start with “when I was young”, “back in my day”, “before your time”, and the list goes on and on. These make us sometime smile but sometimes roll our eyes because we have heard the story so many times we can tell it word for word ourselves. The beauty of the Gospel is not that we roll our eyes but we have the opportunity to hear it, to speak it, to share it so much that those we are around can, speak it, share it, and hear it as well. It is an amazing journey. “In those days” of our friends before Christ -life was lifeless, had no meaning, was out for selfish gain, and was lacking. In these days (in Christ) we are full, fulfilled, and found in Him. What a great reminder from Luke each holiday season through Christ we are made new. “Those days” are gone and the new day is here.
