Advent Day 6
Psalm 68:4 ~Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD, and exult before Him.
Isaiah 40:3 ~ A voice of one calling: "In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
How do you prepare? Christmas is a time where I feel like I am rushing around. Things are sometimes thrown everywhere and you are constantly on the go looking forward to things and trying to get ready for others. Christmas is a time where often we forget to slow down and we get so caught up in the preparing that we often forget to be, “be” in the moment. SO many times we are rushing from one thing to the next and I am the worst to be typing this. Yet sometimes there are moments where when we actually do stop the world joins and stops with us. We see the smile on a person’s face, the joy in the conversation on the phone. The love that is felt through a hug that you have not gotten in a long time. You know and each have those particular moments. But these moments you have to prepare for.
These moments require us to breath and focus. These moments require us to prepare for presence not presents. This preparation does not look like a straight path all the time but it is always worth the journey. I love how this couples with the Psalm verse. Out of our heart the mouth speaks. What attitude are your preparing your holiday season with? Is it through a heart of love, or bitterness, joy or disdain, faith and hope or animosity and grudges? How we prepare not only says a bunch about us but about who and whose we are.
