What do you eat when you are on the go?
As I grow up I come to realize that more and more our bodies become programmed to what we
feed it. Not just literally but mentally and emotionally as well. Movies I used to be able to watch
now I can’t stand because of some principles that I am fully aware of but previously overlooked.
Processed food that I loved and sometimes still love I know does not equip my body with the
right nutrients. To have will power you have to press through the times in which you don’t want
to do things to get past that point and get them accomplished. Your body is one big muscle and
what you train it to do it will crave.
Super foods are not really my thing but I have found a few things that my body loves and I feel
better for it.
Top ten foods that are easy on the go
1. WATER, WATER, WATER
2. Real Juice (boost those antioxidants)
3. Oatmeal (make your own little packages) or oatmeal balls easy pop in mouth for energy
boosting
4. Real applesauce/ orange/ apple
5. Quick homemade wrap (turkey and cheese, Peanut butter and Jelly)
6. Peanut Butter spoon (almond butter if you are allergic or even sunflower seed butter)
7. Healthy trail mix (make a big bag then package it out)
8. Carrots/ Broccoli and Hummus or ranch
9. Grapes and cheese
10. Granola or granola bars. You can makes your own with a few simple ingredients.
WATER! We do not drink enough water. We are made up of mostly water and we do not drink
enough of it. Drink up.
SODAs Cut that junk out. Your body was not designed to drink that trash. Cut them out and
drink your water. If you want the carbonation then drink seltzer water but cut back and
hopefully cut out the sodas.
Eat more veggies. I still struggle with this one. Make your plate colorful. You want to eat a
rainbow and no brown and white is not a rainbow. Incorporate veggies in weird places. I put
veggies that would not normally be in spaghetti sauce there because I can sneak them in and
not even notice. I also can drink more veggies and fruit.
Eat or drink more fruits. Real fruits are the best. Know they are high in sugar. However, if you
eat a bunch of sweets replace a sweet with a fruit. You will get the sugar but it will be better for
you. When you drink fruit juice make sure it is the real deal not the formulated junk. Pay the
money to get the better quality stuff. Diversify your fruits. Apples and oranges are great but
don’ t stop there. Pomegranates are wonderful, blueberries, kiwi, the world has so many to
offer.
Eliminate things in a plastic package. Make what you can. Yes, it takes time but cultivate the
relationships while you are working on it. Make muffins instead of buying packaged. Make
simple sides or freeze produce to have it for later.
